Most, if not all players are familiar with the
recent US online poker ban. I'm guess that
that this has to do with a majority in favor of
regulating online poker. A poll conducted from
YouGov and PKR poker show that 63% of the
respondents were in favor of the regulation.
If it were to come down to a poker ban or
regulation, I think almost everyone would vote for
it. Unfortunately, online poker is becoming less
accepted across the world, a huge impact being the
US. The US recently started enforcing the
online gambling ban, but it has actually been
illegal for quite some time.
Online gambling was illegal in the United States
all the back since the 1960s. Since it wasn't
being enforced, not many even know that it was
illegal. PKR is one of the poker rooms that
has chosen to stay out of the US market. So
far, it doesn't seem like it has cost them very
much, as they are growing very fast.
It was also noted that if poker rooms start to
regulate, then more people will feel comfortable
with their money in the poker rooms' hand.
This would ultimately result in more players from
more countries.
