Tournaments at PKR are fairly similar in
structure to tournaments at other sites. All
players start with the same amount of chips, and the
tournament continues until one player has all of the
chips.
Each player pays a fixed buy in, and usually
10-20% of the players make the money and receive a
prize. Throughout the tournament the blinds
are raised and antes are used to make sure that
there is pressure on the players, and that people
get eliminated.
PKR offers so many tournaments that you will
certainly find something to suit your style.
There are sit and go tournaments running 24/7, and
large multi table tournaments running around the
clock as well. Quite frequently PKR will host
a larger tournament, and they will run satellites so
players can earn their way in without putting up the
whole buy-in.
Besides just the standard tournament structure,
PKR offers three other structures to make things
interesting for the players. The first of
these is speed/turbo tournaments. These
tournaments have quickly raising blinds, and don't
run nearly as long as the regular tournaments.
The second special type of tournament is
short-handed tournaments. These tournaments
have only tables of 6 instead of the usual tables of
9. This leads to increased action, so if
you're a player that is aggressive and likes to play
many pots, these tournaments are for you.
The last special type of tournament is the deep
stack tournament. This is for the patient
player, because all players start with more than the
usual stack of chips, and blinds raise very slowly.
If you're a skilled player who has time to play a
long tournament, deep stack tournaments are perfect.
